Being a Senior Java Designer at National Bank means:

- Having a direct impact on the client experience

- Helping revamp our cross-sector architecture

- Implementing application architecture/design in a high-volume transaction environment with legacy systems

- Designing and developing microservices to fulfil business contracts

- Redesigning a monolithic approach into microservice architecture

- Being able to visualize projects in progress as a finished product

- Participating in a variety of major projects

- You have extensive experience in design, development or architecture and enjoy the challenges of technology transformations

- You have a bachelor’s degree or the academic equivalent in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience

- You’re also an experienced software designer with proficiency in the following languages:

- Java/JEE backend (Rest, GraphQL, SOAP, microservices, etc.)

- React or Angular

- You’re able to communicate in French, both verbally and in writing. English is an asset, due to communication with English-speaking suppliers.

Senior Java Designer

As a member of our electronic trading algorithmic development team, you will dive directly into creating innovative solutions that advance our business. You will join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products.  You will work with quants and traders to develop, implement, support and maintain a growing trading system and its strategies.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

- Design and develop trading strategies in close collaboration with traders

- Enhance existing strategies to improve performance

- Develop and enhance our pre-trade and post-trade analysis platform on AWS

- Develop and maintain automated testing

- Provide second level support to the trading platform

- Good team player and ability to work independently with minimal guidance

The following qualifications are sought for this role:

- 3 years software developing experience (1 year with a related advanced degree M.Sc.) in java and/or C++

- Clear and confident communication skills

- Able to elicit requirements from business requests

- Experience developing within low latency, real-time systems is a definitive plus

- Machine learning and cloud base app development experience is a definitive plus

- Experience developing strategies for market-making, systematic trading, or electronic trading an asset
